Your Car Interior Looks Tired — Restore It in a Weekend

A clean interior adds real money to a car’s value — and it’s one of the few fixes you can do yourself in an afternoon.

Why the interior matters

People judge a car by its cabin before they ever drive it. Stains, dust, and that “used” smell read as neglect — and they’re the fastest way to kill a sale or make a daily driver feel cheap.

Deep clean first

Start with a proper vacuum and interior cleaner — every crack and crevice. A good extractor or upholstery cleaner pulls years of dirt out of seats and carpet. This single step transforms most cars more than anything else on the list.

Leather & trim

Condition leather so it doesn’t crack, and restore faded plastic trim with a quality dressing. For headlights and exterior plastic, a ceramic or trim restorer brings back that dark, new look.

Kill the smell

Air fresheners mask — they don’t fix. An odor eliminator (or replacing the cabin air filter) removes the source. This is the difference between “clean” and “actually new.”
